All Double Eagle St Gaudens gold coins contain on ounce of .9999 fine gold and most, because of their rarity, are worth much more than the value of the gold they contain. While gold is hovering around the $1740 per ounce price point right now, many of these coins are worth $2,000 or more and the price keeps going up. And of course, many are worth thousands and tens of thousands of dollars. In fact, one copy of a 1933 St Gaudens gold coin sold for some $7,000,000 back several years ago making it the single most valuable coin in the world.

Only this beautiful and unique coin can make that kind of boast and you can own one or several of these beauties by shopping the auctions above.

While the coins we originally minted with an ultra high relief design from 1905 to 1907, this design was impractical to keep them stored because the coins could not be stacked. However, this ultra high relief design was reborn in 2009 and the problem of stacking the coin was solved by putting a slight ridge on the coin with stars around it. These coins are no longer available from the US Mint, but they can be found at various coin dealers and of course at eBay. We will feature some of these coins on our site as well soon.
